What's an OHP used for?
You may remember your maths lessons
where the teacher used to put a piece of acetate (a clear
plastic A4 sheet) on the OHP and then use marker pens to write
on calculations as it was explained how to do a particular sum.
In history lessons, pages out of history books with pictures
were photocopied onto acetate and then projected onto a screen
so that all the class can see them. In the music class,
photocopies of songs were projected. You get the idea.
OHP's have now been replaced with cheap multimedia projectors
that connect to computers to do some of the jobs above.
Information can be scanned into the computer or Internet
websites can be shown with the projector. If you have a
computer with a graphics tablet attached (these start at around
£25+VAT in the UK) then you can also write directly over
pictures and website pages, and show sums like the maths teacher
did....
Alternative 1
Document camera that can just be
plugged directly into a screen such as a large LCD monitor,
plasma screen, or projector (possibly connected to an
interactive whiteboard). If the document camera is also
connected to a computer, then you can record stuff as well.
Document cameras have the advantage of being able to be used to
view small objects, such as coins, which an OHP would not be
able to project.

Use a computer connected to a
projector to projector your computer's image onto the screen.
You can also purchase a cheap document scanner to scan in paper
documents and project them onto the screen.

Use a computer, projector and
interactive whiteboard. You can "draw" onto the whiteboard and
then save, print, email images afterwards.

Use a copyboard. This is a large
whiteboard that have electronics in. You can write on the board
